Asian spices are being pounded out in the marble mortar and pestle,

A paste of coriander pods, saffron threads, chardonnay wine, Thai chilis, Thai purple basil leaves, and shallots are added to the crepes.

Sizzling, the ghost of a rice crepe forms inside the Dutch pancake griddle.

Flipping it, I add in the crab cheese wonton filling mixture...

The fresh Thai basil leaf sprigs pop out of the pyramid, arranged in a Christmas tree shape, of the savory, steamy, Thai-Dutch pancakes.

THE NEXT ONE WAS AN ORIGAMI WALL HANGING, MADE FROM UNCUT U.S. DOLLARS,

THAT ONE HAD A DIARY PAGE, RAGGEDY FROM BEING HASTILY TORN OUT,

PUCKERED AT THE EDGES, IT READ:

"I WILL BE SITTING NEXT TO YOU, ON YOUR CHRISTMAS FLIGHT BACK TO DC.

I HOPE YOU DECIDE TO MARRY ME.

I LOVE YOU. "
